My grandmother was a housekeeper for university professors in Brazil. She couldn't afford books of her own, but she read the ones left lying around, and at night, during some of the hungriest years of my life, she would recite Les Brown's words to change the mood in our house. Before I went to sleep she'd tell me, "My son, shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you will land among the stars, so you can help all your friends facing hunger on the streets and many others."
