Financial psychologist Brad Klontz studies money scripts: beliefs about money you picked up as a kid, mostly without knowing it.
1. Avoidance: rich people are greedy, money is bad.
2. Worship: if I just had more, all my problems would be solved.
3. Status: my worth is my net worth.
4. Vigilance: never talk about money, always be afraid of losing it.
Mine was avoidance with a side of vigilance.
